Summer Fun with KOTM!

Hello all my wonderful friends!

Guess what.. it's Monday... and it's SUMMER!

I don't know about you, but for me, that means there is a whole week ahead of me to keep little ones entertained... So how about a little UNITY inspiration to get your week off to an AWESOME start?

How about some temporary tattoos?

NO ARTISTIC SKILLS NEEDED!

Just follow these simple steps...

Step 1: lightly mist your stamp with water.
Don't use too much water or your image will not be crisp.
(super adorable butterfly from June's KOTM!)

Step 2: color your stamp using water-soluable crayons.
Go ahead and use multiple colors.. they blend beautifully!
(I use Caran D'Ache Neocolor II)

Step 3: stamp onto skin!
(if stamping on an area that isn't flat-- like the arm or cheek-- it may help to press the stamp with just your hand instead of using an acrylic block. Since the stamps are cling-mounted, they will easily bend around contours.)

A little water, and these beauties will wash right off, leaving you with a fresh canvas!
SO MUCH FUN!

And remember, today is the LAST day you can sign up for Kit of the Month and get JUNE's kit!!!!
(cuz it's the last day of the MONTH... how did that happen?)

"In Love with Love"

By signing up for KOM, you are guaranteed a FULL 8.5x11 sheet of rubber stamps in the mail EACH month for only $26.  The images and range in styles is AWESOME, and the price is AMAZING!

So... stop on by the Unity site, sign up for KOM, SMAK, and/or LOL and do any other shopping you want (there are some seriously FABULOUS stamps there!), than grab the kiddos and some watercolor crayons, and make ART!

(special thanks to my SWEET niece who was my eager hand model!  I think she is more excited about helping with this post than I was for doing it... which is saying something!  Love that girl!)

Sunday new Stamp of the Week !

Hello Unity stamp fans,

Jolande here from the Netherlands with the NEW stamp of the Week!!

Exactly the one I needed!! A WISH stamp,
the right one to make it orange :)

Why orange would you think? .. because of the world football champion leagues, of course! The team from the Netherlands is doing well...
I now that football (you call it soccer), isn't as well known in the USA as here,
however America is  doing well too!
 I wish both team success!!

I am a dutch girl, so I made my card orange.

Here are some samples from the Unity design team

If you’d like to become a member of the Stamp-of-the-Week program, here’s a link.
It's so cute to get a new stamp every week and they are so versatile that you can build up a very nice collection for all purposes.

Have a nice Sunday!!

SMAK Saturday

Hello friends! It's Shemaine here sharing this week's SMAK Saturday.
If you visit my blog you know I have fully embraced the Pocket Page scrapbooking trend.
I absolutely love how much faster I can record my memories and the fact that I am using so many more photos than when I was scrapbooking traditional 12x12 layouts.

Using Unity's SMAK kits to create with on  my pocket pages is fun and easy.

For today's inspiration I inked up the June SMAK kit

This Right Here

And used the Unity {be Inpired} challenge colors and sketch for my inspiration.

 photo JuneSMAK14.jpg

I use my iPhone for pictures daily and I love that Instagram saves them in the 4x4 format. The Rhonna Designs app helps me add journaling right onto my photos and my Cannon Selphy printer makes it easy to print, trim and slide them in these Instagram Page protectors from We R Memory Keepers.

Here's a look at the inserts I created with my SMAK images

 photo JuneSMAK14b.jpg

Creating my own inserts from Amy Tangerine's Plus One collection is easy. I just cut the cardstock from my 6x6 pad to 4x4 and stamped the SMAK images in grey and black ink. I look at each square as a mini layout and embellish them in my own personal style.

Easy peasy!

Here's a look at the newest Unity SMAK kit for July!

ALL IN THE NUMBERS

This kit will not be found in stores! It is a special kit offered for the SMAK (Scrapbooking, Mixed-Media, Altered art, Kit) Membership Program. All stamps are deeply etched, red rubber, mounted on cling foam and are perfectly pre-cut! The overall size of the kit is an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of rubber.

Super fun right?

Have a creative day!

Friday Reminder

YAY! it's Friday.

Kris here to bring you a very important reminder.

Today is the 27th and that means you only have 4 more days to sign up for your KOTM.

Let's take a look at the fabulous June kit.
Just click on the pic to find out all you need to know to sign up.

http://unitystampco.com/shop/kit-of-the-month/

So I've done a couple of little cards using this kit.
First up is a card with white embossing on Kraft cardstock.
Simple, yet effective.

Next, is a perfect summer card.
I worked in an ice cream parlor during high school and there was
a time when I never wanted to see another milk shake.
However, this one is just too cute to pass up especially
with modeling paste for whipped cream-LOL!
(Oh, I did use a couple of sentiments from previous kits...
FAVORITE from March 2013, and ICE CREAM from June 2012).

I hope you'll consider subscribing to this fabulous value.

So while you're signing up for the KOTM, don't forget to shop.
There are wonderful new releases and [of course, wink, wink]
a fabulous sale.

Inspiration Wednesday

Watercolor has become all the rage around Unity lately. I’m always fascinated by Swarup’s brilliant and vibrant cards using Unity stamps with this medium.
In the past, I’ve tried watercolor pencils, crayons, and even distress inks and pens to colorize stamped images to try and recreate that watercolor artist vibe.
Often times, I’m very satisfied with the end result, and sometimes, I’m just NOT. Since February of this year, my new favorite way to watercolor
stamped images is by using a computer program called ArtRage 4 (also available for iPhone and iPad).
ArtRage will simulate painting, like the wetness & thickness, so that the brushes work like real life brushes. You can smear paint, blend colors, and work with textures to get natural-looking projects. It’s FUN!
I’ve prepared a video for you all today demonstrating ArtRage 4 as well as a second video on how
I assembled the tag below focusing on a Unity stamp and sentiment from the June Kit of the Month, “In Love with Love”.
find beauty tag
(clicking on the image will take you to the member page at Unity)
JUNE-2014-KOM-IN-LOVE-WITH-LOVE
In the video below, I demonstrate how to open a new painting, import a scanned stamped image, how to resize the watercolor, gloop, and pen brushes, and how to import
pictures to use as color palettes, and then how to use the color sampler to sample colors for use from those pictures. I also demonstrate how to rotate the image, crop, and export the image, and a bit on how to
use layers, erase, etc.  There’s probably a few other things in there, too, as it’s a little over 15 minutes. In the video, I’m using the PC version of ArtRage 4 with a Wacom tablet and stylus. Another benefit of
the program you can see in the video below is that you can zoom into an image and see it much larger.  Have you ever wanted to do that in real life with a stamped image?  Just to get into the
nook and cranny of the image to color in more detail? As I’ve gotten older, I must admit, coloring images in detail has grown difficult for me to do. This feature could help you.
And in the video below, I show you how I assembled the tag using the image I colored in the above video.
With the above videos, I hope I have inspired you to use your stamps in a whole new way!
I’d like to leave you with the wise words below. Embrace this philosophy and not only will you be a much happier crafter but you will craft happily more often.
That’s what this is all about!

Gina and Me. Sneak Peek and Exciting NEWS!

sometimes you just CLICK.
ya know?
and this girl and i - we did.
and still do.
i LOVE Gina. SO MUCH.
she is pretty stinkin' easy to LOVE.
take my word.
---------------------

from the very beginning.
we have supported one another in our business adventure.
we have supported one another on a personal level.
and we pretty much WISH we could have COFFEE on a daily basis.
THAT would be a beautiful thing.
--------------
when you have a business in this industry
from time to time your heart gets broken
on one level or another.
it is hard to separate your basic human feelings just because something painful happens to your heart regarding business.
we are women - we feel things pretty deep.
even if "business" is supposed to not feel that way.
situations happen.
it is personal. you take it personal.
and it hurts.
---------------

gina has always been my go to girl for those situations.
she has been there for me with strong conviction and support.
because she too has had similar experiences.
similar heart breaks.
so grateful for her.
always.
----------------

we kinda occupy our own little corners of our worlds on a daily basis.
and know without a doubt - we would cross over into one another's world in support
at the drop of a hat.
and we do.
EVEN THOUGH we have VERY SIMILAR product. SIMILAR BUSINESS.
it doesn't much matter at all to us.
we both agree there is NO SUCH thing as competition.
and we stand in firm support and love for one another.
would not have it any other way.
----------------------

so what could be more fun than meshing our businesses together in a simple fun way?
we have been talking about doing this FOREVER.
and here is our first VALIANT effort at it.

Unity only does stamps.
Gina K. has successfully added more product to her adventure.

SO UNITY is making the STAMPS
and Gina K. is making the SUPPLIES KIT!
perfect, right?
AND IT ALL RELEASES TOMORROW!

Introducing Gina & Me stamp set by Unity Stamp Company
