Jimmi's Favorite Things Sunday!
I'm back with some of my favorite things from the past week. Today we have fashion, food, stamping and entertainment!
So let's get started!
Last week I was in love with my Bearpaw knit boots...well this Black Friday I got these Bearpaw boots for myself and I love them! Even my husband loves them, he said they look ADORABLE even though he says I'm "fun size" when I wear flat shoes, lol!
They are just like UGG's without the $130 price tag!
THIS card by Karen is one that jumped off the screen while I was looking through the SCS gallery! I love the colors and her coloring makes me so jealous, ha! All the shapes on the card are to fabulous, too!
This cute and cozy hoodie from Aeropostale had to be mine while Black Friday shopping! It's so sparkly and I love this color and it's a nice slim fit so it still looks a little "put together" but casual, not sloppy, love that!
THIS super trendy, fab card by Lisa Arana is just perfect! The colors and the white embossed image work so perfectly together with her fun Nestabilities! Love it!
Okay, Dunkin' Donuts coffee has become the coffee of the Mayo house! I just love it and so does Rachel so it's a keeper! I have had it at Dunkin Donuts but never at home until I got a free sample of it to try and then I went right out and bought some at Target (they had a great price). Do you want your own FREE sample? Go to THIS page and sign up for it!
THIS card by Lori is SO striking and lovely! I love the simple elegance of it and the rounded corners on the right side are just the extra touch that sets it over the top! Fabulous!
Last night Mike and I went to see The Blind Side!
I have been dying to see this movie; 1. I love Sandra Bullock, 2. I LOVE football, 3. I {heart} Tim McGraw! So for me it was a no-brainer! Let me tell you, this movie is BEAUTIFUL, FUNNY, INSPIRING and simply perfect! Go see it NOW! I've totally decided that VA is not Southern enough for me and we are immediately moving to Tennessee, Mississippi or Louisiana or some other proper state, LOL! We'll see what Mike has to say about that, I guess...but I need a more Southern accent ASAP! :)
I couldn't post without a Christmas card could I? It is almost that time of the year! Here is a gorgeous Ippity card by Michelle that I love! It is so elegant and light, whimsical and feminine that I just love looking at it!
Here is something I loved and my whole family loved. My Kosher Salt encrusted Prime Rib I made last night for dinner at my mother in law's house! I know it looks kinda weird but scroll down for the recipe and try it, you will not be disappointed and your mouth will be watering just thinking about it for days!
Here are my directions...not so official but you get the idea:Heat oven to 450*F
Place Standing Rib Roast (this one was boneless but bone in is good too) in roasting pan on bed of salt.
Pepper it and cut little holes for some garlic slices and put those in it
Then I put dijon mustard on it, just rubbed it on with my hands...
Then cover it with Kosher Salt, thickly (I use a whole 5lb box for this 6 pound roast)
Then put it in the oven for 30 mins. at 450* then turn the heat down to 350* and roast for 15 mins. per pound or until it reaches 140*F for Med. Rare. The end pieces will be Med. Well and towards the center will be Med. Rare.
Then take it out and make everyone "ooh and ahhh" when you break the salty shell off!!!
I serve it with this sauce:
1 1/2 cup Sour Cream
1 tbsp. Horseradish (not "prepared horseradish) or more if you like it hotter.
1 tbsp. Mayo
a little fresh or dried Dill to taste
Pepper to taste
Mix together and serve with Prime Rib

The other thing that was a FAVORITE of mine this week was Black Friday shopping! I was so excited to introduce it to one of my daughters friends! She saw something I said about it on Facebook and called Rachel right away and said "your mom has some elaborate shopping plan and I want to go with her!", isn't that cute? So she came over Thursday night and spent the night and her and Rachel got up and went with Sherry and I for the best day of the year!
We got great deals at JcPenney, Kohls, Target and an awesome deal on a digi-frame at Wal-Mart. Besides the frame Wal-Mart was kind of a bust but that's ok the EXPERIENCE is really all I am out there for, it's not about the deals, it's about the FUN times with FRIENDS for me!
I hope you had a beautiful, wonderful week and I will see you next Sunday with another edition of Jimmi's Favorite Things!
{Maybe you'll see your card here!}
Here are a few shopping quotes to inspire you!
I like my money right where I can see it: hanging in my closet.
-- Carrie from Sex and the City
{SO TRUE for me!}
Shopping is a woman thing. It's a contact sport like football. Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death, and the ecstasy of the purchase.
-- Erma Bombeck
Whoever said money can't buy happiness simply didn't know where to go shopping.

Gray Wednesday! HA! Kidding - BLACK FRIDAY SALE!
It's Unity Artist Wednesday ...
Hi everyone, it's Lisa Hetrick. Angela asked me to share some lovelies with you today and I am oh so happy to share.
First up... it's an anniversary of sorts.
A year ago this month, my art appeared in the November 2008 KOM and I became a NEW UNITY ARTIST. Like most of you, I became acquainted with Unity through Splitcoast and I fell in LOVE. LOVE. LOVEY. Unity was NEW and FRESH and on the cusp of something very big. I could feel it. I could see it. I'm a graphic designer and illustrator and have always dreamed of combining my love of stamping and illustration together. My style of ART needed a home and I really didn't see where I fit in until I found Unity. And, OH MY it has been an awesome, wild RIDE! Growing with Unity!
I had the pleasure of meeting all of the Unity peeps at CHA this past summer and it was like being with family. Like coming home. I LOVE THAT!
Like many of the Unity artists, I am a stamper, too. So, when I illustrate for Unity, I'm always thinking about how the image might be used. So, keep your ideas coming. And, I know I can speak for all the Unity artists when I say ... we love and appreciate all the ideas and feedback you share.
So here's to anniversaries and finding a place for my art to call home.
Now on to some of my creations using some of my releases. I whipped up this card set for a holiday gift using the Bevvy of Butterflies set. I know I've shared my story of what inspired the Butterfly set, but I'll share again here, in brief. This set is near and dear to my heart.
When my mother passed suddenly, 12 years ago, I was so stricken with shock and grief that I took a moment to sit by the lake at my parents home. I cried and prayed and asked for a sign that she was okay. At that very moment, a butterfly landed on my nose. It was March. It was cold. It was a sign.

And because I LOVE. LOVE. LOVEY the holiday season. Here are some card creations and holiday projects to get you in the SPIRIT. These cards use this season's holiday releases Embellished Season, Joy and Wonder, and Bright and Merry Winter Wishes.
This super cute house uses the awesome poinsettia image (Kristen Bents) from the HodgePodge of Happiness set. LOVE THAT SET. And, the chipboard tree ornament uses the Merry and Bright sentiment and the swirly sentiment (Amy Bass) from Bright and Merry Winter Wishes.

Thank you for indulging me for SOOOO LONG here. I had to share this little pretty using one of my favorite creations for Unity, Shine On.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! And it wouldn't be the end of an Angela post without a quote. So, here's one Lisa style. Tee hee!
And if you're a local to MD, PA, VA, join me at PhotoScraps for some fun creating time. I teach classes (using Unity) several times a month and you are guaranteed to have a blast.

It's a Design Team Tuesday...
Today I am sharing a BRAND NEW LO featuring several amazing stamps as always! Today I used more of the {Capture Life} set and added in some of {Retro BBQ} and what makes this LO special is its hybrid! So many people think they can't do hybrid but they can and the fastest and easiest way to do that is by adding paper piecings to your digital LO.

...if you stop by {my blog} today you will get to see another BRAND NEW layout from me...and leave a comment because I will have a drawing myself for a couple of free Unity Stamps :D
...and it wouldn't be a post on Angela's blog without a great quote:
The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live.
Have a super Tuesday my friends!

Tutorial of Ornamental Proportions!
I am here today to share with you a tutorial on how I made this ornament...
I made this ornament for a Dirty Dozen/ Dirty Dozen Alumni Challenge at SCS this month. You can see my blog post about it HERE.
The one that we make today will be just slightly different, but you will see how it can be changed up to suit your needs or to be able to work with the supplies that you have on hand.
Step 1 Gather your supplies. ( In addition to what you see pictured below, you will also need a pencil, scissors, file or sandpaper, heat gun, Cuttlebug (optional), red tape, paintbrush and Cropadile or hole punch.)
Step 8 Apply adhesive to the smaller circle and center it on top of the chipboard base.
Step 13 Allow the front to dry and repeat the process on the reverse side.
Step 14 Using a Cropadile or a hole punch tool, apply a hole in the top of the chipboard flourish.
So there you have it! It seems like a lot of steps, but it goes together quickly. I hope you will try to make an ornament similar to this one and if you do we would love to see it, so be sure to upload it to the SCS Gallery and put Unity in for the keyword.
Have a wonderful day and thanks if you stuck it out all the way to the end!!
