It's Unity Artist Wednesday ...

and a BIG Hello from Maryland...
Hi everyone, it's Lisa Hetrick. Angela asked me to share some lovelies with you today and I am oh so happy to share.

First up... it's an anniversary of sorts.
A year ago this month, my art appeared in the November 2008 KOM and I became a NEW UNITY ARTIST. Like most of you, I became acquainted with Unity through Splitcoast and I fell in LOVE. LOVE. LOVEY. Unity was NEW and FRESH and on the cusp of something very big. I could feel it. I could see it. I'm a graphic designer and illustrator and have always dreamed of combining my love of stamping and illustration together. My style of ART needed a home and I really didn't see where I fit in until I found Unity. And, OH MY it has been an awesome, wild RIDE! Growing with Unity!

I had the pleasure of meeting all of the Unity peeps at CHA this past summer and it was like being with family. Like coming home. I LOVE THAT!

Like many of the Unity artists, I am a stamper, too. So, when I illustrate for Unity, I'm always thinking about how the image might be used. So, keep your ideas coming. And, I know I can speak for all the Unity artists when I say ... we love and appreciate all the ideas and feedback you share.

So here's to anniversaries and finding a place for my art to call home.

Now on to some of my creations using some of my releases. I whipped up this card set for a holiday gift using the Bevvy of Butterflies set. I know I've shared my story of what inspired the Butterfly set, but I'll share again here, in brief. This set is near and dear to my heart.

When my mother passed suddenly, 12 years ago, I was so stricken with shock and grief that I took a moment to sit by the lake at my parents home. I cried and prayed and asked for a sign that she was okay. At that very moment, a butterfly landed on my nose. It was March. It was cold. It was a sign.

And because I LOVE. LOVE. LOVEY the holiday season. Here are some card creations and holiday projects to get you in the SPIRIT. These cards use this season's holiday releases Embellished Season, Joy and Wonder, and Bright and Merry Winter Wishes.

This super cute house uses the awesome poinsettia image (Kristen Bents) from the HodgePodge of Happiness set. LOVE THAT SET. And, the chipboard tree ornament uses the Merry and Bright sentiment and the swirly sentiment (Amy Bass) from Bright and Merry Winter Wishes.

Thank you for indulging me for SOOOO LONG here. I had to share this little pretty using one of my favorite creations for Unity, Shine On.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! And it wouldn't be the end of an Angela post without a quote. So, here's one Lisa style. Tee hee!

And if you're a local to MD, PA, VA, join me at PhotoScraps for some fun creating time. I teach classes (using Unity) several times a month and you are guaranteed to have a blast.
