May Day - Friends Blog Hop!

Tradition.
My wonderful mother gave me a ton of Traditions to hold dear.
ONE of them being MAY DAY!
Well, APPARENTLY...... I live a pretty sheltered life.
Doesn't EVERYONE Celebrate May Day?
I guess not!
I found that out when I asked my Design Team to make MAY DAY Baskets for the Blog Hop Today. Some of them were saying
"Huh? What is MAY DAY?"
If you are not familiar with May Day - My gal Christi Snow has found a quick little low down for you!
------------------------------------------
May Day was also celebrated by some early European settlers of the American continent. In some parts of the United States, May Baskets are made on the first day of May. These baskets are small and usually filled with flowers or treats and left at someone's doorstep. The basket giver would ring the bell and run away. The person receiving the basket would try to catch the fleeing giver. If they caught the person, a kiss was to be exchanged.
--------------------------------------------
As a little girl...this was a pretty exciting day.
I loved it almost as much as Christmas.
My mom would save the green plastic strawberry baskets - we would weave ribbon in and out of them...or I would simply color dixie cups and run a pipe cleaner through a couple holes.
I would then deliver them to all of my friends.
So Much Fun!
----------------------------------------------
I have this feeling my DT Girls came up with a few FAB ideas to share with you in honor of the May Day Tradition for the BLOG HOP today.
{I hope you enjoy!}
----------------------------------
I also asked the girls to post a bit about their "Best"Friend.
I am not a "BEST" Friend sort of gal.
I am just so THANKFUL everyday that I have beautiful people in my life.
I have some of the greatest friends that I get to share moments with.
I could not coin one as BEST. They are all THE BEST.
------------------------------
However...This Guy.....
He holds my heart.
I would pretty much say that through 14 years of time spent together- minute after minute, hour after hour, day after day - moment by moment he has become my friend.
...and I have to say - HE is amazing at it.
I have said it before and I will say it again - I love this guy!

Today is a GREAT DAY!

I feel happy.

Each morning I read a few quotes to get me going.

{I know that must surprise you and leave you shocked}

I have started to share my quote finds with the peeps in the front at Unity.

Today, I found this one and read it quick. I then added it to the morning email & quickly sent it out to Eryn, Brooke, Michelle and Chris.

"I'm not happy. I'm cheerful. There's a difference. A happy woman has no cares at all. A cheerful woman has cares but has learned how to deal with them."
Beverly Sills1929-2007, Opera Singer

I read it a SECOND time and thought.

Darn.

I sent it and now I don't know if I like that one!

HOWEVER...then reality set in. It is true! We are not ALWAYS happy.

If we want to be truthful....That might get annoying.

Being "cheerful" is going to get us through those cares that come along with daily life. Those "cares" that chip away at a HAPPY DAY.

So next time I am having a day with cares that need attention I will try to be cheerful. A new way to look at things is good.

ALWAYS UP FOR A GOOD CHALLENGE!

Now be HAPPY {or at the very least, cheerful} and start your BLOG HOP!
